April 17th – Saskatchewan to British Columbia
We had such a good week spending time with family in Saskatchewan. We wish we could have seen more of the family but, unfortunately with the pandemic and the new restrictions it made it impossible to visit. Saskatchewan will always hold a special place in my heart, it was the first province I lived in when we first moved to Canada. The skies are always beautiful, big vast blue skies with pillowing clouds by day, warm amber and bright orange tons by evening and then northern lights and the stars light up the night sky.
We hit the road again as this was the beginning of the journey to get across the USA Boarder. Being in the middle of a pandemic didn’t make travel easy for us. The kids and I are all American but, Kevin is Canadian. As many know the USA Boarder is closed by land unless you are a citizen. The kids and my self had to cross the boarder by land so we could bring our camper and Kevin had to fly. With all the rules and regulations there are only a few airports in Canada that even allow you to fly International. The airport that was closet to the USA boarder was in Vancouver, BC.
We left Colonsay, SK at about 8:30am and started our drive to get away fro cold weather as fast as we could. The plan was to drive for about 5 hrs but we ended up driving farther as the weather wasn’t looking good. We stopped in Cranbrook, BC in the Home Depot parking lot for the night. It was a restless sleep and The Home Depot store opened early so forklifts were driving around our camper at 7am. I guess that helped us get motived to get moving early. We got breakfast made and hit the road. There was snow storm warnings in that area and we wanted to get out of there before it hit.
