May 22 – The March Air Field Museum

Written by Malachi Misiurski

This morning, all of our family woke up at 7:00 because the air museum we were going to opened at 8:00. Our Uncle Kyle made us breakfast (bacon and eggs), and it tasted great. We all ate pretty fast, other than Joseph of course who likes to take his time. After our stomachs were full, we left the house to get to the museum on time, after we left around 15 minutes too late. During the ride, we played an interesting game where if you see a paper license plate, you get to punch someone, and if you see an out of state plate you get a point.

We got to the museum at around 8:30, we then got out of the car while we waited for our parents to show up (They were late!!). After we finally got together, we took a quick picture by the cool statue of a plane, at the front of the museum. We walked inside the building and we waited while our Mom paid for us to enter the actual exhibits. The March Air Field Museum is a museum with a lot of old planes from as far back as World War One (dating to around 1914). We saw a lot of pretty epic planes that had some really interesting pasts. For example, the A-26, an American twin-engined plane from World War 2, was the best plane to do invasions with in World War 2.

“The bad guys are going to get me!”, is what John was exclaiming as we took a walk through a bunker exhibit with the loud bomb sounds booming in the background. So we decided to get out of there as quick as possible before we were blown to smithereens. It’s a good thing we have John in the family to keep an eye out on us, but mostly himself. After our near death experience in the bunker, we read about how the soldiers wrote letters, and how they were trying to write to their loved ones. We then marched in a very orderly fashion to get outside (more like pushing each other to get outside), and we saw a fighter jet do its take off into the deep sky. It was so super loud that we covered our ears, and it was still loud!!!

After our long day at the museum, we left the museum at around 1:00 and had some In-N-Out in the local town. We already had planned that we wanted to have supper at our campsite, and have a fire with all of our family (including Melissa, Kyle, Daisy, Joseph, and Zachariah). We got to the campsite after a coffee run, and pulled our bikes off of the camper so we could bike around the campground with the little kids, and maybe even take them to the park. After having some flame kissed pork chops with salad, and pineapple, we all went to play badminton in the grass field. We all lost to dad and then we all came back to have s’mores around the campfire. The grown-ups all had their “discussions”, Noah and Joseph disappeared for an hour, and Zachariah and I just chilled around the fire.

We gave into the night at around 10:00, and started our jaunt back to Uncle Kyle’s house. It took us about 45 minutes to get back, and we all got ready for bed directly after we got home. After everyone was no longer smelling of campfire smoke, we all gathered in the living room and met Aunt Daisy’s new bird. This bird was a cockatiel, and is only 3 months old, she is raised by humans, so it didn’t take her long to get well acquainted with us. She was a very friendly bird, and Aunt Daisy decided to name her “Starshine” after the quote in the movie “Willy Wonk and the Chocolate Factory” where Willy Wonka says, “Good morning Starshine, the world says Hello!”. After our fun experience with the bird, we all headed to bed after a long day of fun.
