A Blast From Our Past – Abraham Lake – August 31, 2019

Good afternoon world! As many of my followers know we have just purchased a house in Oklahoma and have been moving from Creston, Iowa to Roland, Oklahoma. This month has been crazy!!! I have been posting updates on our Instagram page about the house in Oklahoma as we are doing a complete remodel. I have been more faithful about updating Instagram and Facebook now to get back on a blogging schedule. I’d like to get you guys a post every Wednesday. So stick around and one day I’ll have my plan down.

Now to get into today’s flashback post. I love it when my memories pop up and remind me of all the fun family trips we have had in the years. Today’s highlighted trip will be from Abraham Lake in Alberta Canada.

Crown Land Camping at Abraham Lake – August 2019

One of the best things about camping in Alberta is Crown Land camping. There is public land you can dry camp on in many areas and this lake was one of our favorite spots that was close to our home in Hinton. I don’t remember all the details of this trip but, I do remember driving down some backroads and it knocked a hole in the water tank of the camper. Which made for an interesting weekend since we had planned to live off the camper water that was leaking all over our entire campsite. We had to get gallons of water from the lake and put it in the camper to have any water in the camper. It was an adventure for sure! The older boys decided to sleep in tents and one night it ended up pouring and they got flooded. But other than all those mishaps it was a fun family weekend.

We took a day touring a round and hiking with the kids. We explored Clearwater and hiked to see some waterfalls.

The rest of our long weekend was spent out on the lake and having some good campfire meals. We got a canoe so we could adventure out on the lake which worked great for a couple of people at a time but we couldn’t all go out at once. Abraham Lake is also very unpredictable so when you leave it can be glassy waters but all of a sudden the wind can pick up and it can get sketchy. We did exploring and always made it back in one piece. As you can see even though it’s September we wore sweaters almost the entire time as it was pretty cool. One thing we are learning being farther south is how nice it is to camp in the heat!

I hope you enjoyed this blast from the past! Although we miss some of our camping spots in Alberta we really don’t miss the cold weather. I think Kevin is finally happy with how far south we have moved. At least I hope so because as I’ve said a million times this month I’m never moving again!!! Thank you family and friends for all your support and following our journey.
