September 4th – 9th • John’s 4th Birthday
Although we were still getting over our sickness it was a busy week, getting settled in our new house, the first day of school, and John’s 4th birthday. After living in a camper for 6 months we realized we didn’t have much for living in a house. Which made it easy to get things put away since there is so much storage in this house. You don’t realize how much you hoard until you have to move into a camper. I already know that we will get too much stuff living in a house again. At this point we were at the tail end of our Covid symptoms, I’m pretty sure I got every symptom in the book. The loss of taste and smell was pretty scary since I love to cook, but the rash that lasted for 3 weeks was honestly the worst of it all. One thing the sickness did do was force us to relax and take it easy for a couple of weeks which you know for Kevin, was like torture.
One good or bad thing about homeschooling is sick or healthy we can still do school. We officially started our first day of school on September 7th and yes I did make the kids take our annual first day of school picture. Noah was entering 10th grade even though he had already started and is scheduled to graduate High School within the next year and a half. Malachi started 9th grade, Lita started 2nd grade and John started Pre-K. This is our second full year homeschooling and I feel like the start of the school year went way smoother than it did last year. The transition was made easy with everything that is going on in the world today and we are so thankful we made this choice for our family.
Our little Johnny is growing up so fast another year has passed and he is 4 years old already! As I’m typing this it really makes me realize how fast all the kids are growing up and how time just flies by. We had a few days of school under our belt and were able to do a home birthday celebration for John’s 4th birthday. I was now on day 14 isolation and could leave the house so was able to grab him a present and a cake. Although I was feeling better it honestly took months to feel 100% this sickness took a lot out of me. John was so excited to get a tractor for his birthday and he still runs all around the house pushing it. Our family has always enjoyed family birthdays and John was lucky to get a call from his friends in Canada and a bunch of family members. We still didn’t have wifi at home and cell coverage wasn’t the best but he was able to hear them all sing him a happy birthday and it made his day complete.
Now that we are living in a house there will be a little less traveling but, don’t worry I still have lots to tell you and will still keep everyone updated with our life and what we are up to. Our kids are growing fast and things are changing with all of them so fast. Noah helps with the tractor business, Malachi is learning to draw and be a master chef, Lita loves reading, being outside and science and John has learned how to read, loves tractors(thinks he is John Deere), and keeps us all busy with his upbeat personality. Although it seems we are slowing down I’ll tell you now we haven’t and keep around to watch as many more adventures come our way!
